THE SEED OF A DREAM

Cobham House was born from a dream that began over 35 years ago, when our family relocated to Seine-et-Marne, France.

Enchanted by the endless, grand halls of vines in which we spent our childhood, the dream of running a family vineyard was never too far from our minds.

DEEP FAMILY ROOTS

In 2021, four generations of our family came together to turn this dream into a reality, in our own home county of Kent. Nestled among rolling hills of apple orchards, Cobham House is a small hidden gem in the historic village of Cobham. Famed as the village in which Charles Dickens wrote his first Novel, The Pickwick Papers (1836), it feels fitting that this is where the first chapter of our story should begin.

Our Family

NINETEEN NINETY ONE

In 1991, Kim and Pallab Sengupta left London with their 3 young children, for a new adventure in the French countryside.
Unbeknownst to them, the dilapidated farmhouse they purchased lay on the outskirts of the Champagne region. Over the next five years, the family fell deeply in love with rural France and the beauty of the surrounding vineyards. It was here that the dream of Cobham House was born.

THE SPIRIT OF WINE

After nine years at Diageo, our son Billy left his role as Global Director of Tequila to build the Cobham House brand and champion England’s exceptional wines.
Inspired by the diverse, celebratory world of spirits, his vision is to make English wine more accessible and to place Cobham House at the heart of vibrant, celebratory moments.

CULTIVATING DIVERSITY

Our daughter, Lara, is the Founder and CEO of Every Future Foundation, where she champions representation and long-term equality in British education. At Cobham House Vineyard, Lara brings that same purpose to British viticulture - amplifying underrepresented voices, widening access to learning and careers, and helping shape a modern wine culture where everyone belongs.
